I’ve been dreaming of Sicily a lot lately so today we’re taking a trip to one of my favourite places – the pretty town of Marzamemi in south-eastern Sicily. If you’re within a few hours drive of here I really recommend making a detour for a leisurely lunch and a stroll.

After a wander around town (which doesn’t take long as it’s tiny), we’ve arrived at Cortile Arabo for lunch. This is the entrance, and you could pass a lovely afternoon here in this pretty courtyard

We spent a gorgeous afternoon here eating extraordinary Sicilian dishes, every one a delight, while the waves lapped under the deck we were sitting on. The lemon granita served after the meal (and on the house) was worth the trip alone. Unbelievably soft and delicate, the flavour was amazing.
Service here was exceptional. Mr Travelling Pantaloni asked for a G&T, which they didn’t have, but ten minutes later one arrived – the owner had sent someone to a local bar and they brought it back for him!
